Homemade Cough Elixer

My big baby (17 y/o DD) is sick ūüė¶ . ¬†Fever, painful cough, sneezing, body aches and all. Poor thing. She’s usually very good at healing herself, I’ve taught her well. However, this time, she needs Mommy’s help. ¬†Mommy to the rescue DD!

I made her a cough elixer that is both soothing and effective at breaking up mucus.

The Snow Day Entry

Great Morning Folks!

Its a snowy day in Northeastern America and my day just got un-busy.  I woke up early this morning to find that the snow had stopped and the work had yet to be done.  I woke up the kids and got them motivated to get out there shovel (Yaaayyyyy!!!!), with the promise of some warm homemade hot chocolate and grits (their request).

When they came back in I served them up a tall cup of hot chocolate with a smile… they said it tasted like Starbucks! :-O Really? ¬†Well, I will have to share this recipe with you all

1 part dutch processed cocoa

2 parts homemade powdered sugar

Milk of your choice

Homemade Whipped Cream

First you combine the cocoa and powdered sugar

Then you put 1 – 1 1/2 Tbsp of the cocoa mix per every cup of milk in a pot together

Simmer on a low setting, stirring well until all of the cocoa mix is dissolved

When ready to serve, top it off with your homemade whipped cream.

Warm, fuzzy and magically delicious.

Oh, on a side note. ¬†If you’ve run out of salt to protect passersby on your sidewalks, just sprinkle some of your least favorite grains that you’ve had sitting up in your cabinets forever on them. ¬†Millet is my personal fav for this because it is cheap. ¬†However, that old container of quinoa, amarath and steel cut oats worked just as well…no slippage.

Happy Snow Day Folks!
